Backpacker Hostels

The most common way for cheap backpacker acommodation are backpacker hostels. You can find hostels in many cities all over the world. Prices for a hostel bed per night differ depending on the size of the room and the location of the hostel. Often prices vary when events take place, e.g. Melbourne hostels are more expensive in times of Formula 1 or hostels in New York or Sydney at silvester time.

Backpacker Jobs

A lot of backpackers work while they are travelling to finance their journey and gain some work experience. There are lots of different jobs you can do as a backpacker, e.g. farmjobs, office jobs, jobs in cafes, bars or restaurants and lots more.

Backpacker Tours

Backpacker tours are arranged tours that are very popular with backpackers travelling alone. It’s a good way to meet and get to know other backpackers.

If you are working during your backpacking tour or if you are on a long term a bank account in the country where you are backpacking makes it easier to handle your money.

The availability of fruitpicking jobs depends on the season of the region. It’s good to be informed about fruitpicking seasons before starting your backpacking tour as there might be hardly any work for backpackers because of the fruitpicking season is over.
