Try something new
You are on holiday so try something different! You could go to some sports venues that are typical, e.g. Australian Rules Football, Rugby or cricket in Australia. Another way to get to know the culture and way of living is to go to typical restaurants or pubs to meet locals.
Don’t stick to your own crowd
A lot of people tend to only hang out with their own folks. Meaning French hang out with French, Germans go to german bars…simply don’t! That takes away so much of the experience you could get when talking and meeting with people form other nations. Backpacking is perfect for getting to know a lot of new and interesting people.
